About the role
Atlassian builds software that helps teams everywhere do their best work. As an Engineering Manager you'll lead a distributed team of 6–8 engineers building collaboration tooling used by millions of teams globally. This is a fully remote, async-first role — no mandatory office days, ever.
What you'll do
- Lead, coach, and grow a distributed team of software engineers
- Partner with product and design to define roadmap and technical direction
- Drive engineering excellence: code quality, reliability, and delivery velocity
- Hire and onboard exceptional engineers into the team
- Remove blockers and create the conditions for your team to do their best work
What you'll bring
- 3+ years of engineering management experience, ideally in a distributed team
- Strong technical background — you can credibly discuss architecture and code quality
- Track record of hiring and developing high-performing engineers
- Excellent async communication skills (written-first culture)
- Experience with agile methodologies and modern software delivery practices
How the flexibility works
Fully remote — work from anywhere in Australia. Async-first culture with no mandatory meetings before 10am or after 4pm local time.
